Nine has confirmed an airdate for its new primetime current affairs series, Under Investigation with Liz Hayes.

Under Investigation with Liz Hayes will be a one-hour, studio-based program that takes a single story and invites the audience to get right inside it.

Each episode of Under Investigation will feature a renowned team of “story insiders”.

They will seek to solve crimes, uncover new evidence and hear from people who have never spoken publicly, while harnessing their knowledge and skill with exciting and innovative storytelling techniques.

The decision by Nine to commission Under Investigation comes after Seven has found success this year by airing a series of primetime specials commission by 7News.

News programming was a consistent ratings winner in 2020 due to dramatic events including bushfires and COVID-19. The genre is now seen as a key area where free-to-air broadcasters can turn-around content quickly and compete against streaming rivals such as Netflix.

Under Investigation with Liz Hayes premieres Monday, March 1st after MAFS on Nine
