Last night, Australia chose Yung Milla as the winner of The Voice Australia 2026, with the Darwin rapper taking out the title against three other finalists.
Coached by Melanie C throughout the competition, Yung Milla made history as the first rapper to win The Voice Australia, beating Daisha Auda, Tommy Novak and The 60Four, with casting now open for next year’s series.

Tonight, Australia chose emerging rap star Yung Milla as the winner of The Voice 2026 after an unforgettable night of performances on Seven and 7plus.
The trailblazing rapper from Darwin was stunned as host Sonia Kruger announced the life-changing result.
“I just can’t believe it. I’m just so grateful,” Yung Milla said.
An emotional Melanie C told her artist: “I think I’ve run out of words. You know you’ve affected me. Obviously, everybody who’s been in a room with you, everybody at home. I’m just so proud. You did this.”
Thanking his Coach, Yung Milla said:”You’ve made me stronger as a person, as an artist, and I couldn’t be prouder. I’m doing it for my people.”
As the newly crowned The Voice champion and the first rapper to win The Voice Australia, Yung Milla has won $100,000 in prize money and an all-inclusive recording development package, including production, recording, mixing, mastering and access to Australia’s leading A&R and label services.
Throughout the competition, Yung Milla captured the hearts of viewers across the nation with his authenticity, powerful storytelling and unwavering commitment to representing his culture and community. From his Blind Audition through to his show-stopping Semi Final performance, he emerged as one of the season’s most distinctive and inspiring artists.
From the moment he stepped onto The Voice stage, Yung Milla set out to share stories of his people, his struggles and his life in the Northern Territory with audiences around Australia.
“I came here as a rapper from Darwin to share my story, my struggles, things that happen where I’m from and reach different audiences around Australia. Now I’m at the Grand Finale. C’mon, crazy,” he said.
Throughout the season, Melanie C praised Yung Milla’s impact on the competition.
“I think you being on this show has changed what The Voice means. Historically, we’ve always thought of a big singer, but it’s about having a voice and using it very powerfully,” she said.
For his final solo performance, Yung Milla delivered a powerful rendition of Tupac’s Changes, a song he described as representing everything he stands for.
Reflecting on his emotional Semi Final performance of Land Down Under, which featured a surprise appearance from his mother, Yung Milla said she was his “rock” and credited her with teaching him everything he knows.
His mother later joined a mentoring session with Melanie C, reminding her son: “Do your best, be happy with your best and don’t worry about any other result. We’re all proud of you. I’m always proud of you, and everyone at home is going to be proud of you.”
Melanie C reflected on his growth throughout the competition, saying: “Yung Milla has evolved so much in this competition. His confidence has grown. He’s a superstar. He was always a superstar, but now he believes it.”
She added, “He’s using his voice for good. It’s been a privilege getting to know him and his mum. You’ve rocked my world, Yung Milla.”
Yung Milla later joined Melanie C for a special performance of Never Be The Same Again, bringing his remarkable journey full circle.
“I’m a Black boy from Darwin and now I’m on The Voice Grand Finale singing with Melanie C,” he said.
Ahead of the winner reveal, Kate Miller-Heidke also took to the stage to perform her brand-new single Butterflies alongside fellow Coach and global pop icon Melanie C.
Fellow Grand Finalists Daisha Auda, The 60Four and Tommy Novak captivated audiences with standout performances throughout the series.
