The 2026 ARIA Awards nominations have been revealed, with Genesis Owusu and Tame Impala leading the field with eight nominations each as the awards prepare to celebrate 40 years of Australian music.
The nominations were revealed yesterday, with both artists picking up eight nominations across some of the major categories, including Album of the Year and Best Solo Artist.
Ecca Vandal follows with seven nominations, while Baker Boy, BOY SODA, G Flip, Miss Kaninna and Ninajirachi each have five. DMA’S, Dom Dolla and Troye Sivan have also picked up four nominations each.
The ARIA Awards return to 10 and Paramount+
The 2026 ceremony will mark the second consecutive year the ARIA Awards return to 10 and Paramount+, following their return to the network last year.
The 40th anniversary event will take place at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Wednesday, 18 November, with the awards to be broadcast on 10 and streamed live on Paramount+.
Georgie Tunny presented yesterday’s nominations event, revealing the nominees across 29 categories. The host for the November awards ceremony has not yet been announced.
Plenty of familiar Australian names
Alongside the leading nominees, this year’s field features plenty of established Australian artists.
Kylie Minogue is nominated for Best Pop Release for Tension Tour//Live 2025, while Paul Kelly, Keith Urban, Vika & Linda and Hilltop Hoods are also among the nominees. Troye Sivan is nominated across four categories, while G Flip, Dom Dolla and Baker Boy feature prominently throughout the nominations.
The Best Group category features 5 Seconds of Summer, DMA’S, Gang Of Youths, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers and Vika & Linda, while Best Solo Artist includes Baker Boy, BOY SODA, Ecca Vandal, G Flip, Genesis Owusu, Matt Corby, Miss Kaninna, Ninajirachi, Tame Impala and Troye Sivan.
The ARIAs will also bring back Best Alternative Release for the first time since 2016, with Ecca Vandal, Gang Of Youths, Genesis Owusu, Meg Mac and Tame Impala nominated in the returning category.
Fans will also have their say
Four categories will be decided by public voting this year, with fans able to vote through Spotify and the ARIA website.
Best Australian Live Act, Song of the Year, Best Video and Most Popular International Artist are all open to public voting, with voting running from 24 September to 9 November.
The 40th anniversary celebrations have already begun, with Gurrumul, Jenny Morris, Kate Ceberano, Spiderbait, The Living End and Vika & Linda inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame at a special event at Sydney’s Carriageworks in June.
