Hugh Laurie is set to star in Apple TV’s new crime drama The Wanted Man, with the streamer revealing the first look at the eight-episode series.
Best known for his Emmy-winning role as Dr Gregory House in House, Laurie plays organised crime boss Felix Carmichael, whose world is thrown into chaos after he is betrayed by someone inside his own firm and sent to the notorious Staplehurst Prison.
Forced to confront his own brutality as he fights for survival behind bars, Felix has his family, business and fortune at stake and ultimately decides to attempt the unthinkable: escape.
The series comes from George Kay, the creator, writer and showrunner behind Apple TV’s Idris Elba-led thriller Hijack, as well as Netflix’s Lupin, with Thandiwe Newton (Westworld), Fionn Whitehead (Dunkirk), Gina McKee (My Policeman), Hazel Doupe (Say Nothing), Elliott Heffernan (Blitz) and Stephen Dillane (Game of Thrones) also starring.
The Wanted Man is produced by New Pictures and Kay’s Observatory Pictures, with Jakob Verbruggen directing the series after previously working on The Fall, London Spy and Dark Matter.
The series marks another collaboration between Kay and Apple TV following Hijack, which launched in 2023 and returned for a second season in 2025.
The eight-episode series will launch with its first two episodes together, followed by one new episode each Wednesday.
