Channel 9 has finally confirmed when Château DIY Australia will premiere, with the five-part renovation series heading to screens this October.
The Australian adaptation follows eight couples and one individual who have taken on the challenge of restoring historic French châteaux, with the properties being transformed into homes, accommodation, wedding venues and other businesses.
Château DIY Australia was first announced in October 2024 as part of Channel 9’s 2025 programming slate, but did not make it to air that year. The Australian series has since aired in the UK on Channel 4, screening across five episodes in June 2026.
Based on the long-running British format Château DIY, the series follows multiple château owners as they tackle the realities of restoring centuries-old properties, with the Australian version marking the first international format adaptation of the franchise.
Among the renovators are Janet and Philip, who moved to France in retirement, Brett and Denise, who are planning to turn their château into a luxury spa retreat, and Melbourne couple Janey and Steve, who are restoring La Challice.
Other projects include a wedding and events venue, a luxury events space and bed and breakfast, while the renovations themselves promise plenty of challenges, from termites and leaky roofs to a 20-metre stairwell.
Château DIY Australia is produced by Spark Media Partners for Channel 9 in association with Cineflix Rights.
