After initial plans fell through for Daylesford, The Block has now set its attention on Phillip Island, specifically the Island Cove Villas.
Fiona Byrne of the Herald Sun has revealed Channel 9, the network behind the hit reality show, made a $9.5 million acquisition of a holiday resort situated approximately two and a half hours from Melbourne.
The purchase agreement, which deviated from the usual acquisition practices of the show, was confirmed with a caveat in the name of a Channel 9 owned company placed on Island Cove Villas on September 11. Coincidentally, this followed the same date The Block team discarded the Daylesford plans, suggesting a backup plan was already in motion.
Island Cove Villas is no ordinary purchase; the real estate listing touts the property as “breathtaking from the moment you arrive.” Nestled on Justice Road in Cowes West, the resort encompasses nine luxurious homes sprawled across 2.5 acres of lush, palm-adorned gardens.
Among these homes is an impressive two-storey, five-bedroom property, complemented by six two-bedroom and two three-bedroom houses. Each house boasts ample carports and verdant spaces.
Within the grounds, residents and guests can enjoy a variety of amenities. These include a full-sized tennis court, expansive children’s playground, two BBQ pavilions, two poolside gazebos, and a substantial commercial laundry facility.
As if the facilities weren’t enough, its strategic location adds more appeal. Positioned merely 2.4km from Cowes’ main street, it provides convenient access to Phillip Island’s renowned penguin parade and is just a stroll away from the beach.
Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor Cr Michael Whelan expressed his enthusiasm about the show’s new direction, stating,
“Bass Coast Shire Council is excited that Channel 9 wants to film the 20th anniversary season of The Block on Phillip Island.”
He further highlighted that they have received the planning application and are keen on engaging with the show’s producers. He emphasized,
“Bass Coast is one of the fastest growing areas in Australia and we would be proud to show nationa…”
Channel 9, staying true to its style, has remained silent on these developments.
