In an unexpected turn of events, Titus O’Reily, the much-loved sports correspondent from Channel 10’s ‘The Cheap Seats’, announced his departure from the show.
The surprise announcement was made during Tuesday night’s episode, where O’Reily light-heartedly quipped that he had to “go to jail for a few years.”
Titus O’Reily is exiting The Cheap Seats to focus on as-yet-undisclosed future projects. The popular comedian is a regular guest on Channel 7’s The Front Bar, cohosts the Sports Bizarre podcast and is a regular columnist for News Corp publications.
Commenting on his departure, Titus stated:
“The Cheap Seats is phenomenal and will continue to prosper for many years to come.
My thanks extend not only to Melanie Bracewell and Tim McDonald, our fabulous hosts, but also to the tireless crew from Working Dog and all the dedicated staff at Channel 10.”
“A special shout-out to the makeup team, who worked tirelessly to present this face to millions of viewers. Their efforts are truly a modern miracle.”
Co-host Tim McDonald responded to O’Reily’s departure, expressing mutual respect and affection,
“We just wanted to convey our gratitude for the unique touch you brought to the show. It’s been a privilege to laugh with you and to get to know you. You’re truly a remarkable individual.
Our best wishes go to you and your family, and of course, we hope for your complete clearance from that so-called independent investigation,”
