Veteran journalist Mike Amor has departed Seven after reading his final bulletin last night, bringing his 30-year association with the network to an end.

As reported by the Herald Sun, Friday night’s bulletin is understood to have been Amor’s last, with the experienced journalist choosing to leave without an on-air farewell or formal newsroom announcement.

Amor later confirmed his departure in an email to Seven colleagues, thanking staff for their camaraderie and reflecting on his time with the network.

“I’ve had a great time here – covered some incredible stories – and will be wishing you all the best success from home,” he wrote.

Amor has been a familiar face at Seven for three decades, spending 18 years as the network’s US Bureau Chief based in Los Angeles before returning to Australia.

In recent years, he has been part of Seven’s Melbourne presenting team, most recently reading the weekend news alongside Karina Carvalho.

His departure comes amid continued speculation about Seven’s Melbourne news line-up, with former Today host Sarah Abo linked to a potential move to the network and a possible presenting partnership with Peter Mitchell.

Amor signed off on a personal note, referencing his beloved Richmond Tigers and saying he would be cheering them on from home in 2027.
