Stan has confirmed regional Victoria as the filming location for its McLeod’s Daughters revival, marking a move away from South Australia, where the original series was filmed.

First announced at Stan’s upfronts last month, the revival will build on the world created by Posie Graeme-Evans, returning to Drovers Run to follow the next generation of McLeod women, with casting details yet to be announced.

Though the horizon shifts into Victoria’s picturesque regional countryside, the heart of Drovers Run remains untouched. Audiences will step effortlessly back into the world they love, as the next generation of McLeods women carve out a bold new legacy.

Having captured hearts in over 100 countries worldwide, this next iteration brings the iconic franchise back to life on a grand scale, filming almost entirely in regional Victoria. The production is projected to generate up to $35 million in Victorian expenditure and up to 900 jobs.

The package also includes additional production investment, skills development and regional community engagement initiatives.

It’s been twenty-five years since Tess and Claire McLeod were first introduced to Australian audiences, and while much time has passed since viewers last visited Drovers Run, the enduring landscape and the inspiring spirit of strong, resilient women will remain unchanged as they navigate life on the land and the challenges of romance and connection in the modern world.

McLeod’s Daughters joins a growing slate of recent Stan and Nine productions filmed across Victoria, including Slander, Saccharine, Human Error, and Underbelly in Melbourne, Dear Life in Ballarat, Gnomes in Croydon and Eltham, One More Shot in Black Rock, and Scrublands in Maryborough.

Building on the iconic world created by Posie Graeme-Evans, the Stan Original Series McLeod’s Daughters will be produced by acclaimed Victorian company Werner Film Productions, part of BBC Studios, with major production investment from VicScreen.

The Stan Original McLeod’s Daughters is coming soon.
