Paramount+ Australia has unveiled its 2027 lineup, with new Aussie originals, returning international hits and a major year of live sport headlining its plans for the year ahead.
Announced at Paramount’s Australian Upfronts on Wednesday, the streaming service will introduce four new Australian productions, alongside new seasons of established favourites and an expanded slate of international dramas.
The announcements include a new drama starring Melanie Lynskey, a live-action series inspired by Matildas captain Sam Kerr’s childhood and a true crime series from award-winning journalist Hedley Thomas.

New Australian originals coming to Paramount+
Mushroom Murders will see New Zealand actor Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets) star as Erin Patterson in a new limited drama based on the infamous mushroom poisoning case.
The six-episode series will depict the 97 days between the 2023 lunch that killed three of Patterson’s relatives and her subsequent arrest.
Created by Anya Beyersdorf, Daina Reid and Deb Balderstone, the series will be directed by Reid across all six episodes.

Sam Kerr Kicking Goals will bring the football star’s childhood to the screen in a live-action adaptation of the book series co-written by Kerr and Fiona Harris. Set in Western Australia when Kerr was 11, the series will follow her early football journey as she balances school, family and friendships.
Casting is underway, with filming set to take place in Western Australia. The series will arrive in 2027, coinciding with a major year for women’s football on Paramount+.

Award-winning journalist Hedley Thomas will also bring his investigative work to the platform with Hedley Thomas Investigates. The six-episode series will examine six Australian true crime cases, drawing on access to family members, lawyers, detectives and witnesses to revisit investigations and explore unanswered questions.
Thomas is best known for The Australian’s award-winning The Teacher’s Pet podcast, which has recorded more than 100 million global downloads.

Meanwhile, The Inspired Unemployed Sketch Show will see the comedy duo return to their roots with a new series of relatable sketches covering relationships, mateship, Australian culture and the millennial experience. Recurring characters and celebrity cameos will feature throughout the series.
The new productions join returning Australian favourites including Last King of the Cross season three and NCIS: Sydney season four, while Aussie Shore season three is already streaming.
The Australian original drama Who The Hell Is Hamish? will also premiere later this year. The six-episode series stars Dominic Cooper and Claire van der Boom and is based on the true story of fraudster Hamish McLaren and the victims who joined forces to bring him down.
