Nine’s Managing Director of Streaming and Broadcast Amanda Laing is departing the broadcaster after just 15 months in the role, in a move that comes amid a reported restructure of its TV business.
The Sydney Morning Herald, a Nine-owned masthead, reports that sources familiar with the matter said Laing’s departure was linked to the restructure, with Nine yet to publicly outline the changes.
The surprise move comes just days after Nine hosted its annual Upfronts event in front of advertisers and media, with Laing notably absent as senior executives outlined the network’s plans for 2027.

Laing was appointed to the newly created role in April 2025, taking responsibility for Nine’s broadcast and streaming businesses, including Channel 9, 9Now and Stan.
Her appointment formed part of a broader restructure of Nine’s television operations, bringing its broadcast and streaming businesses together under a single division.
During her time in the role, Laing oversaw the integration of the businesses, including the rollout of advertising on Stan and the expansion of content across Channel 9, 9Now and Stan.
Her departure leaves Nine without the executive responsible for the division, with the broadcaster yet to reveal how the business will be managed following the restructure.
The news comes as Nine prepares to roll out the 2027 strategy Laing helped unveil at last week’s Upfronts, with the network announcing returning favourites, new programming and major sporting coverage.
Nine has yet to publicly comment on Laing’s departure or confirm who will take over responsibility for the Streaming and Broadcast division.
TV Blackbox has reached out to Nine for comment.
