The ghosts of Ramshead Manor are about to welcome a whole new audience, with the Australian adaptation of the hit British comedy heading to the UK.
The BBC has acquired Ghosts Australia from BBC Studios, its commercial distribution arm, for BBC iPlayer and BBC Three, bringing the local series to UK audiences.
The eight part comedy was first announced at Network 10’s 2024 Upfronts before premiering on 10 and Paramount+ in November 2025. Filmed in Western Australia, it adapted the award winning British sitcom for local audiences, following the success of the long running US version on CBS.
Starring Tamala Shelton and Rowan Witt, the series follows a young couple who inherit Ramshead Manor, only to discover the rundown estate is already home to an eclectic collection of ghosts.
While the BBC acquisition brings Ghosts Australia to UK audiences, Paramount Australia is yet to confirm whether the series will return for a second season, with any announcement likely to come during the network’s Upfronts later this year.
Nick Lee, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition, said the Australian adaptation offers “a fresh and very fun spin” on the beloved format, with its new ghostly residents creating a world UK audiences will enjoy.
“It’s a fresh and very fun spin of the wheel for this beloved BBC format. Fans will really enjoy the world this new ghoulish gang create.”
The ensemble cast also features Mandy McElhinney, Brent Hill, Ines English, Michelle Brasier, George Zhao and Jackson Tozer, with Christiaan Van Vuuren and Madeleine Dyer directing from scripts led by head writer Josh Mapleston.
Produced by BBC Studios Australia Productions, the series was backed by Screenwest and the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive, with BBC Studios continuing to handle global sales.
