After more than a decade with the Seven Network, and 15 years after starting in television, senior journalist Jodi Lee has signed off from the newsroom, closing a significant chapter in her career.

The Sydney based journalist and presenter confirmed in a recent social media post that she has finished up with the network, marking the end of a significant chapter in her television career.

“Fifteen years after landing my first TV job, I’ve signed off from Seven News.”

Lee reflected on the path that began with her first role in media, describing it as the fulfilment of a childhood dream and a privilege to report on the stories that matter.

“It’s been the privilege of a lifetime to have held this microphone, lived out my childhood dream, covered the stories that count and to have met so many incredible people along the way.”

Across her time in the field, Lee covered everything from devastating bushfires and the Covid-19 pandemic to Melbourne’s New Year’s Eve fireworks, Sydney’s Mardi Gras celebrations and major sporting events including State of Origin.

She said her decision to leave was influenced by a common thread she noticed while interviewing some of the country’s most courageous and successful figures, who spoke about growth happening outside a comfort zone.

“So I’m voluntarily leaving mine and the job and people who’ve come to feel like family.”

Over the years, Lee built a profile across reporting and presenting, including time with 7 News Melbourne before moving to Sydney, while also expanding into speaking engagements and event hosting beyond the daily news cycle.

Prior to working for Seven in Sydney, she held reporting roles at regional broadcasters Prime7 and WIN Television, as well as producing positions with Yahoo7 and earlier with Seven across its suite of morning news programs.

While she has not detailed what comes next, Lee acknowledged the uncertainty that comes with change, writing that it is hard but staying the same can be just as challenging.

    • Great presenter and journalist. I was lucky enough to meet her at a charity event here in Sydney and was really nice to talk to. She’s going to be a success whatever she does.
