Footy is as footy does. Also Gogglebox Australia does pretty OK.

PRIMETIME ANALYSIS

Once more the AFL and NRL were the only shows really capturing any attention anywhere:
Seven’s AFL: Thursday Night Football (Carlton Blues v Richmond Tigers) (713,000 avg) (lw 702k) on Seven
Thursday Night NRL Live (Brisbane Broncos v South Sydney Rabbitohs) (642,000 avg) (lw 505k) on Nine
Season finale of The Dog House Australia (383,000 avg) (lw 462k) on Channel 10.

The 7pm timeslot built their respective big commercial offerings a reasonable opening platform:
A Current Affair (680,000 avg) on Nine
Home and Away (435,000 avg) on Seven
The Project (276,000 avg) (6:30pm-7:30pm) on 10.

As expected Gogglebox Australia (501,000 avg) (lw 1512k) does well in the later primetime slot as it worked hard to compete with the footy. The ABC’s offerings of 7:30 (569,000 avg) (lw 603k), Foreign Correspondent (414,000 avg) (lw 466k), and Grand Designs New Zealand (339,000 avg) (lw 341k) maintained their loyal audiences.
