History will be made this year with the Copa América being held outside of South America for the first time, with the United States making their debut in the tournament as the host nation.

It’s one of many storylines that will make this tournament compelling, must-watch viewing:

  • Along with 36-year-old Messi, it’s expected that this CONMEBOL Copa América USA 2024™ will be the last international tournament for Messi’s teammate Angel Di Maria and Uruguay legend Luis Suarez.
  • Reigning champions Argentina will be looking to go back-to-back for the first time since their 1991 and 1993 triumphs. Having also won the World Cup in 2022, this represents a chance for Argentina to cement its status as the world’s best team and one of the all-time great sides.
  • Legendary manager Marcelo Bielsa has got Uruguay buying into his total football approach and after wins in qualifying over the much-fancied Brazil and Argentina, could they be ready to ruffle some feathers and take out the trophy?

CONMEBOL Copa América USA 2024™ is part of a huge month of sport on Optus Sport with the UEFA EURO 2024™ running at the same in conjunction.

Howard Rees, Head of Optus Sport, said:

“Copa América 2024 is going to provide some of the most compelling and exciting football throughout June and July.”

“Along with EURO 2024, Optus Sport will be the place for football fans during this time with kick-off times happening throughout the day across both tournaments, so fans won’t miss a kick from either tournament.”

“Having the Copa América 2024 in the United States for the first time adds a new dimension, while Lionel Messi will undoubtedly be doing everything he can to ensure Argentina go back-to-back, it promises to be an unmissable month of football on Optus Sport.”
