Stan and BBC’s Ten Pound Poms returns for a second season, featuring Michelle Keegan and Faye Marsay in a tale of post-war migration to Australia.

Stan, in collaboration with the BBC, has announced the renewal of the Stan Original Series Ten Pound Poms for a second season.

Ten Pound Poms, a NSW-filmed co-production between BBC and Stan, springs from the creative mind of Danny Brocklehurst, a BAFTA-winning writer (also known for Fool Me Once, Ordinary Lies, Brassic). The series is a production by Eleven, recognised for their work on Sex Education and Red Rose, for One and iPlayer.

The first season narrated the journey of British migrants leaving post-war Britain for Australia. The upcoming season continues to trace the experiences of nurse Kate Thorne (played by Michelle Keegan) and the Roberts family (portrayed by Faye Marsay and Warren Brown) as they navigate life in Australia in 1957. The narrative explores whether they can achieve the promised Australian dream.

In addition to the returning cast, season two will introduce new characters, including the Skinner family from Ireland and the dubious landlord Benny Bates. These additions promise to either brighten or complicate the lives of the existing characters.

The Australian ensemble cast featuring Rob Collins, Leon Ford, Declan Coyle, Stephen Curry, Hattie Hook, Finn Treacy, Emma Hamilton, and Cheree Cassidy will also be returning for the second season.

Danny Brocklehurst, the series’ creator and Executive Producer, expressed his delight at the viewers’ positive response to the show. He mentioned his excitement about reuniting with the cast and crew for another season.

Joel Wilson, Producer and Co-Founder of Eleven, shared his eagerness to return to Australia for the new season, alongside the talented cast and crew.

Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, looked forward to offering BBC viewers another season of Ten Pound Poms, with returning and new characters crafted by Danny Brocklehurst.

Cailah Scobie, Stan Chief Content Officer, emphasized Stan’s commitment to authentic Australian stories and expressed excitement about the upcoming season.

The first season of Ten Pound Poms was recognized with two Golden Nymphs at the 62nd Annual Monte Carlo Television Festival for Best Series and Best Actor, awarded to Warren Brown.

The series is a joint production between Stan and the BBC and will be available on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK. Executive producers include Gaynor Holmes for the BBC, Cailah Scobie and Donna Chang for Stan, and Joel Wilson, Olivia Trench, and Jamie Campbell for Eleven. Sophie Williams serves as the co-executive producer. The writing team features Ryan Griffen and Smita Bhide alongside Brocklehurst.

Directing the second season are Ana Kokkinos and Tom McKay, with Sony Pictures Television handling global distribution and Curio Pictures providing production services in Australia.

Filming for the second season of Ten Pound Poms is set to begin in mid-February in NSW, Australia.

The entire first season of Ten Pound Poms is currently available for streaming exclusively on Stan.
