In anticipation of Valentine’s Day, Netflix is set to charm audiences with its new limited series, One Day, premiering on 8 February 2024.

This British adaptation of David Nicholls’ acclaimed novel promises to captivate viewers with a love story spanning decades.

One Day revolves around the lives of Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew, portrayed by Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall. The narrative begins on the night of their university graduation, 15th July 1988, marking the start of their acquaintance. The series intriguingly follows their lives on the same date across subsequent years, highlighting their evolving relationship, joys, and heartaches.

This 14-episode series, brought to the screen by Drama Republic, is not the first adaptation of Nicholls’ work. The novel was previously transformed into a feature film in 2011 with Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. The current series, however, offers a fresh perspective on the timeless story.

The ensemble cast includes notable names such as Essie Davis, Tim McInnerny, Amber Grappy, Jonny Weldon, Eleanor Tomlinson, Joely Richardson, and Toby Stephens.

The writing team comprises Nicole Taylor, Anna Jordan, Vinay Patel, and Bijan Sheibani, under the direction of Molly Manners, Kate Hewitt, John Hardwick, and Luke Snellin. Producers Roanna Benn, Jude Liknaitzky, David Nicholls, and Nicole Taylor, along with series producer Nige Watson, have collaboratively brought this project to life.

One Day is more than just a romance; it’s a journey through the complexities of relationships, capturing the essence of growth and change over time. This series is a testament to the enduring power of love and the importance of timing in our lives. As Netflix unveils this highly anticipated series, viewers around the world await to experience the magic of Emma and Dexter’s story once again.

One Day premieres 8th February, 2024 on Netflix Australia
