Network 10 have today confirmed that Perth viewers will continue to receive locally presented news, following on from a story TV Blackbox brought you earlier this year about news returning to their Perth studios.
The network had previously announced back in August 2020 a raft of on-air and behind the scenes changes to their news bulletins and teams caused by the ongoing covid-19 pandemic, which would see a number of presenters and staff depart and all news presentation centralised between their Sydney & Melbourne studios respectively.
Perth’s evening news bulletin was moved to being presented out of Sydney, a move only made possible with the different time zones which made 10’s Pyrmont news set available for the bulletin to be presented from, while still having local teams on the ground reporting and news gathering for the news bulletin.
10 returned local news in Adelaide (albeit still mostly presented out of Sydney by former Melbourne / Adelaide weather presenter Kate Freebairn) earlier this year, and then in March it was revealed by TV Blackbox that 10 were trialing locally presented news in Perth which has today been confirmed as continuing.

The only remaining news bulletin not to return to local presentation is Queensland, which is still being presented out of Sydney and is presented on weeknights by Sandra Sully. The bulletin a mix of pre-recorded studio segments and “look live” crosses to journalists from Brisbane, with part of the bulletin presented live during daylight savings when the Sydney bulletin has finished.
With an increased focus on news & current affairs programming next year following the announcement of a new Afternoon bulletin at 3:30pm weekdays presented by Midday host Narelda Jacobs, the network are yet to confirm details for the new 10 Late News bulletin due next year also which was a story exclusively broken by TV Blackbox.
About time Brisbane has local presentation instead of Sandra in Sydney….
I haven’t watched 10 News since the Queensland edition with Georgina Lewis was axed.
Andrew Maloney it is literally hard to watch….Georgie was a great presenter…10 lost its way
Curt, gotta feel for Sandra and the other weeknight presenters in the chair from 3.30pm til 7.30… and only able to take a look break in sport…
Narelda is losing all of her roles.
Does anyone watch the 5 o’clock new on ten in Perth I don’t
