The presentation of Channel 10’s local 5pm news bulletin is set to return to the networks Perth studios tonight for the first time in 3 years.

From tonight, anchor Natalie Forrest will present the West Australian edition of 10 News First from the networks Perth studio. The changes come after Narelda Jacobs exited the presenter role late last year.

Channel 10 caused significant local outrage in 2020 when it moved the studio presentation of its Perth and Brisbane bulletins to its Sydney studio facility as part of a brutal cost-cutting process.

TV Blackbox understands the move to reactive the Perth studio is a temporary move at this stage, with Charlotte Goodlet expected to take over the Perth presenter role when she returns from maternity leave.

Natalie Forrest will be joined in the Perth studio by sports presenter Lachy Reid, while Weather reports will continue to be produced on location with Beau Pearson.

  1. Every state and territory in Australia should have news studios from 7 9 10 ABC SBS TV channels!! Absolutely crazy WA hasn’t for a while now!!! Australia is too big it has to have state by state coverage not just from Sydney studios!!!!

  2. SBS only produces a national bulletin, and as such, only has studios capable of hosting a TV news bulletin from Sydney only. They have bureaus in Melbourne (mostly focused on Radio) and in Canberra (almost entirely focused on National Politics). There is no logical reason for there to be a discrete, state-based bulletin on SBS Television – especially when the ABC already does this more than effectively.

  3. While Charlotte is on maternity leave, it is good news that the Perth news had returned to subiaco studios. Perth viewers wanted to have the news coming from local studios rather than having it in SYdney. Natalie Forrest might be the only local news reader (as Narelda has moved into midday news). I think that they might get other people like Emmy Kubainski to front 10 News First Perth.
