Channel 9 has held a “Celebration of The Years” event over the weekend in Sydney to celebrate career milestones for three of the network’s biggest stars
Held at the Sydney Opera House on Friday evening the event was held to celebrate the stellar careers of A Current Affair host, Tracy Grimshaw and 60 Minutes presenter Liz Hayes.
The two highly respected journalists have now been employed by Channel 9 for 40 years.
Additionally, the event also celebrated the 30th anniversary of the top-rating Sydney newsreader Peter Overton.
The event was originally scheduled to be held in 2021 but was delayed due to the COVID lockdown. Today co-host Allison Langdon compared the evening.
The event was attended by an impressive list of Nine stalwarts including; CEO Mike Sneesby, board member Nick Falloon, Nine radio boss Tom Malone, managing director of publishing James Chessell, director of news and current affairs Darren Wick, director of morning TV Steve Burling, A Current Affair executive producer Fiona Dear, 60 Minutes executive producer Kirsty Thomson and Melbourne’s news director Hugh Nailon.
Other attendees included Richard Wilkins, Sarah Abo, Overton’s wife Jessica Rowe and the late Brian Henderson’s wife, Mardi.
