Channel 7 has secured Australian rights to an adaptation of the 1960s classic spy novel Harry Palmer: The Ipcress File.
Described as a rollercoaster of twists and turns, Harry Palmer: The Ipcress File is a stylish spy story set in the 1960s amid the highly charged atmosphere of the Cold War.
The six part UK series features an impressive cast including: Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders, Skins, The Hour), Tom Hollander (The Night Manager, The King’s Man, In the Loop), Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody, Murder on the Orient Express), Ashley Thomas (Them: Covenant, NYPD Blue, Top Boy), and David Dencik.
The Ipcress File tells the story of Harry Palmer, a British army sergeant turned black market hustler, is a man on the make in Berlin. But when the law catches up with him, everything comes crashing to a halt. However, a gentleman from British intelligence has a proposal. To avoid jail, Harry will become a spy.
From Berlin to London, Beirut to the Pacific, Harry embarks on his first undercover mission in Harry Palmer: The Ipcress File, a globe-trotting tale of abducted scientists, brainwashing, treason and a possibly unwise romance. This reluctant spy may take no pleasure in his new job – but he’s bloody good at it.
