The sixth of eight shows in Ten’s Pilot Week initiative – DeciderTV.com’s Steve Molk reviews TRIAL BY KYLE.

HOW DID TEN PITCH IT?

The toughest cases, biggest celebrities and genuine disputes can only be settled by one man, radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands. As Kyle carefully unravels each case, former The Bachelor Australia star and criminal lawyer Anna Heinrich is on hand to assist in forensically analysing the evidence.

WHAT IS IT REALLY?

Kyle lords it over a courtroom Judge Judy-style, with an array of cases presented to him to consider and pass judgement over. He’s assisted by Anna Heinrich who will offer sage direction as required.

WHO IS IN IT AND WHO RESPONSIBLE FOR IT?

Kyle Sandilands is our judge and Anna Heinrich steps in to provide legal advice.

The show is produced by Screentime Australia.

WAS IT ANY GOOD?

Nope.

Kyle is everything you’d expect – egotistical, arrogant and anything but wise. I mean he’s sitting on a bloody throne with a nameplate in front of him for some reason.

The cases are lewd, crude and full of shock value, and his fans will lap it up. A botched boob job, an attention-seeking one-time reality star, a porn star – just a normal day at the office for the self-styled FM shock jock.

SHOULD IT GO TO SERIES?

It will honestly surprise me if it doesn’t. Kyle plays to the cheap seats with everything he does, and Trial by Kyle is no different. Ten to have had a deal on the table before pilot week started and this was simply a formality.
