The MasterChef Australia: Fans & Favourites top six are in for big highs and big eliminations as they head across the Bass Strait for finals week.
Inspired by Tasmania’s rugged, untouched landscapes and fresh produce, the remaining contestants will present the best dishes of the season.
We can almost smell the pristine Tassie air and delicious food from here, and what better way to start, than with a visit to the picturesque Oyster Bay at Freycinet Marine Farm in Tasmania.
Our six finalists are treated with a tour of Oyster Bay with Giles the oyster farmer, where they learn all about oysters. And even have the opportunity to harvest their own oysters!
Following the tour, the contestants arrive at Devil’s Corner Winery to commence the challenge.
Sunday night’s challenge is over two rounds. In round one, the contestants have 30 minutes to bring the judges six dressed oysters, using the oysters they harvested. The dish can be hot or cold and the topping can be classic or something new. The top two dishes will be safe, the bottom three must cook in round two.
In the final round, the contestants can be as creative as they want with how they use oysters in their dish. With 75 minutes on the clock, the worst dish in this round will send its maker home.
