As the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 steams ahead into its 11th day, football fans are bracing for another flurry of action and drama in Australia and New Zealand.

Day 10 was characterised by decisive wins and narrow victories, setting the stage for an exciting day 11. Sweden swept past Italy in a 5-0 blowout, while France and Jamaica eked out wins against Brazil and Panama respectively.

In today’s games, Optus Sport viewers will witness a pivotal day for co-hosts New Zealand as the final round kicks off. In an attempt to secure their first tournament points, Korea Republic and Morocco are set to clash at 2.30pm AEST following their initial losses. Korea Republic were defeated by a formidable Colombian team while Morocco faced a severe 6-0 defeat at the hands of Germany, setting a record for the largest scoreline in the competition thus far.

Norway will be pitted against the Philippines at 5pm AEST. Norway’s form has been erratic in this tournament, winning only one point from two matches, with controversies surrounding star players Ada Hegerberg and Caroline Graham Hansen adding to the turmoil. On the other hand, the Philippines, led by Australian coach Alen Stajcic, need just a draw to progress, if Switzerland outdo New Zealand.

Group A will also see Switzerland battle against New Zealand at the same time. A win for New Zealand guarantees their progression. Meanwhile, Switzerland could potentially proceed even with a defeat, provided other results play out in their favour.

The day’s final match will witness two strong teams, Germany and Colombia, squaring off at 7.30pm AEST. Star German player Alex Popp will be one to watch after her double in the 6-0 trouncing of Morocco. Colombia, despite a midweek scare when their star player Linda Caicedo fainted in training, is expected to offer a stiff challenge.

Watch the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 live on Optus Sport from 1.30pm (AEST), with continuous coverage across all matches.
