The Block is heading somewhere new as the renovation favourite swaps inland builds for sweeping bay views.

Nine has locked in the premiere for the show’s first ever waterfront season, with Mount Eliza on the Mornington Peninsula providing the backdrop for a fresh round of luxury homes and new challenges.

Now entering its 22nd season, the long running renovation juggernaut returns on Sunday, August 2, with five teams taking on luxury homes across two distinct precincts known as Uptown and Downtown.

Designed by award winning Block architect Julian Brenchley, the homes will begin with their structural frames already complete before contestants transform them into high end properties overlooking Port Phillip Bay.

Executive Producer and series creator Julian Cress said the move to Mount Eliza fulfils a long held ambition for the production, with the waterfront location offering an aspirational setting for the latest season.

“The stunning backdrop of Port Phillip Bay and the Melbourne skyline fulfills a long held ambition for us as producers, in what is an aspirational blue chip real estate location.”

Scott Cam returns for his 20th season as host alongside Shelley Craft, while judges Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Marty Fox once again decide which teams come out on top, with Foreman Dan Reilly overseeing the builds.

Another first will see all five teams living together in a nearby sharehouse instead of on site, ensuring the competition continues long after tools are down each day.

This year’s cast features couples, best friends and a father and daughter duo from across Australia, with many bringing renovation or construction experience to the competition.
