Apple TV+ has just released the much-awaited trailer for its new four-part documentary, “Messi’s World Cup: The Rise of a Legend.”

The series delves into the extraordinary career of Lionel Messi, an eight-time Ballon d’Or recipient.

The documentary prominently features his journey through five FIFA World Cup tournaments, culminating in his remarkable victory at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 – a final that will be remembered as one of the most exhilarating in football history.

Narrated by Messi himself, the series offers a unique, in-depth look at his time with the Argentina national football team, from his early days to his crowning achievement in Qatar.

Set to premiere globally on Wednesday, 21 February, the documentary promises to be an intimate portrayal of Messi’s quest for the elusive World Cup title.

The docuseries sheds light on Messi’s journey, illuminating his dedication and resilience. It traces his path from his debut with Argentina to the immense pressure of leading his country in the World Cup. After a brief retirement in 2016, Messi made a stunning comeback, eventually earning the title of the 2022 tournament’s best player and achieving his World Cup dream.

Executive produced by notable figures such as Emmy Award winner Tim Pastore, and Emmy and Tony Award winners Patrick Milling Smith and Brian Carmody, the series also involves Emmy Award winner Matt Renner, Jenna Millman, and Juan Camilo Cruz. “Messi’s World Cup: The Rise of a Legend” is a collaboration between SMUGGLER Entertainment and Pegsa.

Moreover, fans can follow Messi’s continued journey in the 2024 season as he plays for Inter Miami CF on the MLS Season Pass, a joint venture between Apple and Major League Soccer, available on the Apple TV app.

Apple TV+, known for its array of original dramas, comedies, documentaries, and family shows, launched on 1 November 2019. It has since set records in the streaming world, introducing hit originals like “Ted Lasso” and the Oscar-winning “CODA.”

Messi’s World Cup: The Rise of a Legend is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, 21 February 2024.
