The widely celebrated Martin Scorsese feature, Killers of the Flower Moon, is slated to debut on Apple TV+ globally on Friday, 12 January.

The film, a critical darling across its global theatrical release, is now poised to captivate a broader audience through the streaming platform.

Killers of the Flower Moon, heralded as one of the year’s paramount films, has been lauded by the National Board of Review as the Best Film of the Year. Furthermore, it has garnered 12 Critics Choice Award nominations alongside 7 Golden Globe Award nods.

The film’s prestige extends to its inclusion in the American Film Institute’s Motion Pictures of the Year and placing at the pinnacle of The New York Times and The New Yorker’s Best Film of 2023 lists. These accolades are supplemented by over 20 global critics groups’ recognitions, including the New York Film Critics Circle awarding it Best Film.

The narrative, adapted from David Grann’s best-selling book, is a 1920s Oklahoma-set western crime saga. It delves into the serial murder of the Osage Nation members, an event notoriously referred to as the Reign of Terror. Under Scorsese’s direction, the film stars a stellar cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, and Jesse Plemons. The film’s significance is further cemented as it received nods for Best Makeup and Hair, Best Sound, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Oscars shortlists.

Today, the film is further embellished with the prestigious Vanguard Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards gala.

The movie is an embodiment of a true crime thriller, drawing from one of the FBI’s initial homicide investigations under J. Edgar Hoover. Notably, DiCaprio, De Niro, and Gladstone immersed themselves in their roles by learning to speak Osage.

This marks a historic collaboration between Scorsese, De Niro, and DiCaprio, who, despite previous individual collaborations, unite for the first time in this project. Additionally, the film’s editing prowess comes from the Oscar-triumphant Thelma Schoonmaker, marking her 21st collaboration with Scorsese.

Production credits include Imperative Entertainment, Sikelia Productions, and Appian Way, with a notable producing team led by Scorsese, Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas, and Daniel Lupi, among others.
