Comedy performer Marty Sheargold, has taken personal leave from his Melbourne breakfast radio show on Triple M.
The Herald-Sun reports the decision follows an incident at the recent AFL grand final. Sheargold was ushered out by security during halftime due to a behaviour that’s been labelled as “drunken and offensive”.
Eyewitness accounts and complaints highlight inappropriate comments and language from the broadcaster, which became a cause of distress for those seated nearby during a corporate gathering at the MCG.
After the incident became public last week, Sheargold has opted for a personal leave, expressing a desire to dedicate more time to his family. In his absence, Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann has been called upon to fill the role as a guest host for an unspecified duration.
Triple M has reportedly extended apologies to those who expressed their grievances. The incident at the Grand Final comes after a period of time where Sheargold has lost a considerable amount of weight due to a strict diet.
Sheargold appears in the ABC comedy series Fisk and is a regular guest on programs including Have You Been Paying Attention, The Front Bar and Thank God Your Here!

Dave probably because he drank what he used to drink before his weight loss so being lighter he became more inebriated.

I was sat 2 rows from him.
His language and behaviour was appalling . Whoever decided to put him with corporate guests in that state needs their head seeing to.
His opening comment when sitting down was to lean over to clients and say:
‘ so you know I won’t be apologising for being an absolute c#%: today’
These are/were very big spenders across the SCA network both male and female ( who happens to be one of the most power media execs in the country)
It got worse from there . A constant at stream of abuse .
At half time when two of the clients decided to buy a salad to eat (they are both vegetarian) he began using number of homophobic slurs because ‘ only f@gots eat salad at the footy’
What makes this worse is he had SCA execs next to him and not one person curbed his behaviour.
To be be clear this wasn’t normal footy banter.
The fact they are still defending him is appalling.
I knew he would be his own undoing, it was only a matter of time! He destroyed the morning drive shift on triple m with his opinion’s and arrogance. Give Lehmo a go till years end!
He is the reason I don’t listen to MMM any more putting people down and being sarcastic on air is not that funny.

I really find it very difficult to believe that Marty Sheargold would use homophobic slurs when I believe , at least, 3 of his on-air radio team are gay men. They banter and poke fun but I don’t think any of those guys would have anything to do with Marty if they believed he was homophobic.
Yes, he probably acted in a regrettable fashion but like someone said, WHO HASN’T
And just for the record, Marty (as well as his team) is a lot of fun to listen to in the morning and if you critics took your head out of your arse for a few minutes you’d see it’s all tongue in cheek
