Some opted to program against it; some programmed away from it.

Channel 9

It was only ever going to be a win for Nine with the NRL’s big show, and it played out thus: 2023 NRL Grand Final Entertainment (1,051,000), 2023 NRL Grand Final (2,045,000), and 2023 NRL Grand Final Post-Game (1,016,000). It should be noted that the 5CM figure for the NRL grand final did not eclipse the AFL grand final from the day prior. Afterwards, Killer at the Crime Scene (133,000) finished things up.

Nine first in both primary (46.4%) and network (52.4%) rankings.

Channel 7

Seven run MKR (503,000) as it powers on toward the finals and drew a reasonable counter-audience to the big show on their main competition. Repeats of ABBA Silver, ABBA Gold (230,000) and The Disappearance of Grace Millane (137,000) are their version of programming away from the NRL grand final.

Seven second in both primary (16.8%) and network (23%) rankings.

ABC

A repeat of Death In Paradise (325,000) led the ABC’s night, followed by another excellent episode of The Newsreader (249,000). Repeats of Mother and Son (103,000), Annika (58,000), and Total Control (DNR) closed out the evening.

ABC third in both primary (7.5%) and network (10.7%) rankings.

Channel 10

Not heaps of interest in 10’s Sunday night line-up despite how hard The Sunday Project (166,000 6:30pm; 199,000 7pm) works. The new season of The Graham Norton Show (158,000) delivered what would be smaller than hoped for numbers, though that should lift next week…well, probably. A double repeat of NCIS: Hawaii (89,000) and single repeat of Five Bedrooms (29,000) roll into the late evening.

10 fourth in both primary (4.5%) and network (8.5%) rankings.

SBS

A repeat of Houdini’s Lost Diaries (63,000) kicked off SBS’s night, followed by Rebel with a Cause: Pat O’Shane (36,000) and Empires of New York (31,000).

SBS fifth in both primary (2.2%) and network (5.4%) rankings.
