Monday night on My Kitchen Rules (MKR) presented a rollercoaster of emotions for barbecue aficionados Aaron and Chris.

With a menu that promised tantalising meat dishes, the stakes were high.

Nick and Christian, the original MKR veterans, immediately sensed the weight of the undertaking.

“They’ve offered a big menu full of meat and knowing how hard it is to get right, if they can pull off all of these – I mean – it’s a huge task,” Christian opined.

The duo kicked off the evening with an entrée of Crispy Pork Belly Tacos. Judges and diners alike agreed on the dish’s complexity, but there was a universal caveat—the pork lacked crispiness. “The menu reads Crispy Pork Belly. The pork belly was not crispy,” lamented Claudean.

Christian saw potential, citing the balance of the dish as an indicator of what Aaron and Chris could achieve. Both Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge echoed the sentiment, affirming that perfect execution could have scored it a ten.

For the main course, the team went all-in with a smorgasbord of meats—chicken wings, lamb neck, and pork ribs—accompanied by coleslaw, pickles, and cornbread. While some guests considered it the best main of the season, the judges weren’t as impressed. Manu quipped his iconic line, “Where’s the sauce?”, summing up the shortcomings.

Defeated, Chris expressed his dismay.

“I absolutely died when he said that because that is my biggest fear. I can’t believe that happened. We need to try and just make sure dessert is singing above the rest,”

he said. Aaron followed, admitting that their reputation was at stake.

Rounding out the night was a lemon pie dessert. Though the judges adored the pastry and the curd, the hefty meringue layer tipped the sweetness balance, just missing perfection once again.

Are hopeless cooks and very nasty people and I hope they loose
The BBQ was and looked delicious under the pressure
For Italian cooks they do not know how to cook
I am embarrassed to say I’m on Italian by the way they talk about other guests and their food to me was disgusting.
