Aussie TV lovers, brace yourselves! The much-loved comedy improvisation series, Thank God You’re Here, is making a comeback on Network 10.

The network dropped hints regarding the show’s return with a mysterious door during on-air promotions at the Australian Grand Prix yesterday, and fans are buzzing with excitement.

TV Blackbox can confirm the 2023 reboot of the show is set to have a new host, beloved comedian Celia Pacquola. It’s a new chapter for the Working Dog produced format, which was previously hosted by Shane Bourne and ran for three seasons on 10 from 2006 to 2007 before moving to Seven for a shortlived final season in 2009.

Celia Pacquola confirmed the new hosting role stating:

“I’m so excited Thank God You’re Here is coming back, and I’m thrilled to host because that means I’ll be in the best position to watch it.

I can’t wait to send comedians through the big blue door and not have to go through it myself.”

Thank God You’re Here is based on a simple premise: get a group of well-known performers and make each walk through a door into a scene without any idea of who they are or what they’re walking into.

Clips from the popular format continue to drive significant social media traffic in 2023. It remains to be seen if the current Tik Tok generation will have the patience to stick with a 60 minuter version of the show on FTA when they know they can always see the best bits online.

Michael Hirsh from the show’s producers Working Dog explained the reasoning behind the shows return in 2023:

“Thank God a new generation is here! We loved making Thank God You’re Here a few years ago, and feel the time is right for a new bunch of comedians to go through the blue door.

We have brought the show back for 2023 and beyond with a new host, the wonderful, multi-talented and funny Celia Pacquola along with new judges, new ensemble, and new guests.

We can’t wait to see this new crop of funny people bullshit their way out of sticky situations.”

Daniel Monaghan, Senior Vice President Content & Programming, Paramount ANZ also added:

“The much-loved comedy program is walking back through that door and onto our screens later this year. Thank God You’re Here holds a special place in our hearts at Network 10.

It was one of the most talked about shows on Australian television and was responsible for launching and celebrating a wealth of intelligent, lively and hilarious Australian talent. The show’s fast-paced and quick-witted format resonates, captivates and engages viewers.

We’re so excited for the show’s return to our screens and we can’t wait to see what we’re about to walk into next! To put it bluntly… thank God it’s back!”

  1. By having a woman host it now, you just know it’s gonna be woke. It won’t work, people are too easily offended these days

    • Fraser Gibson you sound fun at parties… get with the times, pauline hanson. the show will be no different with her as a host, she’s a great comedian regardless of her gender

    • Sam Ciardi it’ll have one episode, someone will get offended, then it’ll be cancelled. A show like that won’t work in today’s woke world

    • Fraser Gibson Dude, you are way too young to hate women this much. Put Tate on mute & lighten up, mate. Celia’s the best man for the job

    • James Matthews I never said I hated women, because that couldn’t be further from the truth. Who’s Tate?

    • Fraser Gibson Have you ever watched an episode of Thank God You’re Here?
      How will people be offended????

    • Renaldo Wiremu Saffioti because people are offended by everything these days. PC woke culture is killing humour
