Twelve daring celebrities have officially entered the South African jungle, as the highly-anticipated premiere of “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!” on Sunday night.
After weeks of speculation, the list of contestants has been revealed. The red carpet was rolled out as the stars made their way to the jungle.
First to arrive was Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson, the former judge on the original Australian Idol, followed by Domenica Calarco from Married At First Sight, Bianca Hunt from Yokayi Footy, Adam Cooney, the AFL Brownlow Medallist, Debra Lawrance from Home & Away, and Nathan Henry from Geordie Shore.
To gain entry to camp, the contestants had to walk the plank over a dam wall to receive their chopper boarding pass. Domenica, who was petrified due to her fear of heights, overcame her fear and completed the task, as she is in the jungle to raise money for the Leukemia Foundation in honour of her uncle Frank.
Nathan, however, had to face his genuine fear of heights and received encouragement from Dr Chris Brown and Julia Morris before ultimately collecting three banana skins in lieu of his boarding pass.
The next batch of brave celebs included Woody Whitelaw from KIIS National Drive Radio Show, Anna Polyviou, a celebrity chef, Olympic lightweight boxer Harry Garside, netball star Liz Ellis, Aesha Scott from Below Deck, and comedian Peter Helliar.
In a game of Guess The Celebrity, celebs were secretly loaded into a box and spewed with slime if no one could guess who they were. Despite failing to guess correctly, the contestants discovered that they had already passed the challenge and were awarded pillows.
After settling in and enjoying a cold meal of kudo ceviche, the celebrities struggled to start a fire until Aesha finally got it going. As the first night came to an end, the contestants got to know each other better and enjoyed the firelight.
In Monday night’s episode, Domenica will face her first trial and meet new campmate Kerri-Anne Kennerley.
