The Channel 9 breakfast show was thrown into chaos when a major audio issue shut the whole show down.
Extraordinary scenes have played out on Channel 9 this morning when the TODAY show was forced off air.
Audio problems started happening during the 7.30 news update when Alex Cullen started going silent. But this wasn’t a mic issue, this was much bigger with the whole audio desk failing.
With all audio failing, producers made the call to roll the next ad break without warning viewers (which, in fairness, they had no way of doing).
A stand-by pre-recorded replacement program featuring Shelly Horton was then played. The clip which aired in delayed markets was produced for 9Honey and had a panel talking about relationships.
In Sydney and Melbourne earlier interviews were replayed in addition to clips from 9Honey.
Twenty-five minutes later fill-in hosts David Campbell and Amelia Adams were back live discussing the issues, with the two making jokes that Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon had sabotaged them.
Campbell then picked up his phone, joking:
“All I did was click on a link”
He then added:
“Even though we look quite calm we know there’s a lot of people behind the scenes here at Nine who have been very frantic trying to get us back on air, so we just wanna thank them for their diligence getting through this”.
A Nine spokesperson told TV Blackbox:
“We had an engineering issue at our North Sydney studios which has now been resolved”.Â
Automation ?
No back up console ?
No Audio Operator just a pilot and co pilot perhaps ?
Even dumb lighting guys could get Audio on air back at TCN 😉
