Set against the picturesque Sunshine Coast of Queensland, our snake wranglers will face some of the world’s most venomous snakes.

The team responds to up to 30 distress calls per day from ordinary Australians whose homes have been invaded by these dreadful reptiles. Eastern brown snakes terrorise suburban backyards, red-bellied black snakes infiltrate wall cavities, and a carpet python has laid her eggs on a young family’s front doorstep.

Because snakes can vanish in the blink of an eye, Stuart and his team will not stop until the snake is caught and relocated, even if it means putting their own lives in danger.

The Sunshine Coast is one of Australia’s snake-infested areas. This area is home to over 20 different species, including the eastern brown snake, the world’s second most venomous snake.

During the breeding season, these snakes begin to roam in search of a mate, bringing them into contact with humans on a regular basis. They can be found in bedrooms, under toilet seats, and even on couches in living rooms.

Enter Australia’s elite snake-catching team, which includes some of the best catchers in the world. Mullet Mick, a classic Australian larrikin who isn’t afraid to take on the biggest and deadliest snakes with his bare hands, to Jess, a relatively new snake catcher who isn’t afraid to step in and is paving the way for future female snake catchers.

These endearing Aussies patrol the Sunshine Coast in pairs, battling deadly eastern brown snakes hidden between neighbouring fences, highly venomous red-bellied black snakes basking within striking distance of unsuspecting beachgoers, and massive carpet pythons guarding their freshly laid clutch of eggs.

After receiving a bite on the job, one of the catchers joins Mick and Chris in the infamous ‘Bite Club’ in Season Two.

While some snakes are chosen to participate in life-saving venom research, others are safely released back into the wild, providing the catchers (and the audience) with another opportunity to examine the snake up close as the catchers authentically and organically share their passion for these misunderstood animals.

With action, suspense, and larger-than-life characters, Aussie Snake Wranglers transports viewers to the wilds of Australia’s snake-catching world, where one mistake can cost you your life.

Season two of Aussie Snake Wranglers premieres on National Geographic on September 13 at 8.30pm AEST.

Foxtel, Fetch TV, and Sky NZ all carry National Geographic.
