Presenter and journalist Ross Kemp fulfils a lifelong dream in this new four-part series Shipwreck Treasure Hunter by diving down on shipwrecks and uncovering their history.
Ross has a personal reason for taking on this adventure; several members of his extended family served at sea, some were shipwrecked, and a few didn’t survive to tell the tale.
Shipwrecks are a challenging and dangerous underwater environment and Ross needs to pass an intensive two-month SCUBA training regime in variety of disciplines before he’s qualified.
Legendary diver supervisor, Neil Brock, mentors him through the inland course and then joins him as he heads out onto open water.
Series One, Episode One: The U-Boat Terror
Ross completes his specialist SCUBA training and heads up to the Royal Navy’s historic naval base in the far northerly Orkney Islands. Up in Scapa Flow, Ross and Neil link up with expert local dive guide Emily Turton and head out onto the water to dive on wrecks from WWII.
Together, Ross and Emily explore a captured German scout ship, called the F2, and recover a slew of artefacts that could be linked to Ross’s two distant cousins who died serving in the Royal Navy in WWII.
