The Battle of the Bulge, also known as ‘Hitler’s last gamble’, was described by Winston Churchill as ‘the greatest American battle of the war’.
Fought between December 1944 and January 1945, it was Germany’s last offensive on the Western front. Nearly 20,000 US soldiers were killed in the battle, including many often-forgotten African American front-line troops.
