We are officially, the home of Star Trek films. Halfway through their five-year mission to boldly go where no-one has gone before, the crew of the USS Enterprise is forced to abandon ship and battle for their survival on an unknown planet. Hidden inside a nebula, this is where Krall (Iris Elba) has been planning an audacious attack on the Federation.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is based on the years Captain Christopher Pike manned the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise. The all-new series features fan favorites from season two of Star Trek: Discovery, Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One and Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock. The series follows Captain Pike, Science Officer Spock and Number One in the years before Captain Kirk boarded the U.S.S. Enterprise, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy.

Finding YingYing

Yingying Zhang, a 26-year-old Chinese student, comes to the U.S. to study. In her detailed and beautiful diaries, the aspiring young scientist and teacher is full of optimism, hoping to also be married and a mother someday. Within weeks of her arrival, Yingying disappears from the campus. Through exclusive access to Yingying’s family and boyfriend, Finding Yingying closely follows their journey as they search to unravel the mystery of her disappearance and seek justice for their daughter while navigating a strange, foreign country. But most of all, Finding Yingying is the story of who Yingying was: a talented young woman loved by her family and friends.

A Life Too Short examines the tragedy behind the killing of Pakistani women’s rights activist and social media star, Qandeel Baloch. Oandeel challenged conventional ideas with her open exclamations of women’s equality and agency. Following Qandeel’s murder, a crucial amendment to Pakistani law was passed, eliminating the possibility for families to forgive the perpetrators of “honour” killings.

The Musician

SPECIAL ANIMATED SHORT

A story 800 years in the making, this award-winning animated short film, uses stop-motion to tell the emotional story of two lovers in ancient Persia. During a vicious attack, a young musician and the love of his life are brutally separated from one another. Fifty years later, the musician is summoned to play at the Mongol castle where his beloved has been held.

Super Pumped: The Battle For Uber

THURSDAY, 12 MAY

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kyle Chandler and Uma Thurman star in this propulsive new anthology series. Tokyo Vice

Tokyo Vice is loosely based on the 2009 memoir written by Jake Adelstein titled, Tokyo Vice: An American Reporter on the Police Beat in Japan. Adelstein is best known for being the first non-Japanese staff writer at Japan’s largest newspaper, Yomiuri Shinbun. Set in the late 1990s, American journalist Jake Adelstein relocates to Tokyo to join the staff of a major Japanese newspaper as their first foreign-born reporter. Taken under the wing of a veteran detective in the vice squad, follow Adelstein’s (Ansel Elgort) daily descent into the neon-soaked underbelly of Tokyo, where nothing and no one is truly what or who they seem.
