Muscle power, mind power, and mountains of player magic await football fans in 2022 – Nine’s 31st continuous year of covering rugby league.

Clubs return to their home grounds after the disruptions caused by COVID-19 last season, fans will fill the stands again – and Nine will be there every week to put viewers right in the explosive action of the greatest game on television.

It all gets underway on Hisense Thursday Night Footy, when the premiers, the Panthers, meet the Sea Eagles at home as their quest for back-to-back titles begins.

In Macca’s Friday Night Footy, all eyes will be on the new-look Rabbitohs when they play the Broncos to see how they fare under coach Jason Demetriou, who has replaced Wayne Bennett. Despite the loss of new Broncos captain, Adam Reynolds, and forward Kobe Hetherington, due to COVID-19, this promises to be an intriguing contest between two teams with a lot to prove from the get-go.

On Chemist Warehouse Sunday Footy, the Eels play and Titans. Can the Eels finally break the longest drought in the NRL after their superb performances in the 2021 finals? And will the Titans kick on after making the final eight last year? It might be the first round in a long season, but this game will give us an idea.

Before the Eels-Titans NRL clash, Round 3 of the NRLW competition continues with a double-header.

It’s Dragons versus Broncos in a top-of-the-table clash between the only two teams unbeaten in the first two rounds.

Then the Eels meet the Titans. Both teams are new to the NRLW and have a point to prove as contenders in the competition.

Tune in for these five absorbing contests as Nine’s expert commentary team bring you all the action live and raise the curtain on an enthralling season of rugby league – the greatest game of all.
