There are key clues to how the private conversation between two presenters was leaked onto the internet – here’s what insiders know

The leaked video from 7 News has some telling clues about its source

There’s nothing the internet loves more than leaked video from TV stations showing presenters in their off-guarded moments.

That’s why the private conversation between 7 News presenters Mike Amor and Rebecca Maddern is dominating headlines today.

In case you haven’t seen it, the two hosts of 7 News Melbourne were caught on camera with audio on having a frank conversation about Novak Djokovic and his battle to play in this years Australian Open.

Now the hunt is on to find out who leaked the video.

Seven’s news boss Craig McPherson has told TV Blackbox:

“The illegal recording was of a private conversation between two colleagues. It was an underhanded, cowardly act in breach of the Victorian Listening Devices legislation the perpetrator of which will be accordingly dealt with when found.”

Now our sources can reveal the likely source of the leak, with telling details you might have missed from the uploaded video.

Firstly, the low resolution of the video indicates this hasn’t come directly from the control room. Any recordings made within the station are usually full broadcast quality.

Secondly, the watermark and timer indicates this has been sent externally and has been viewed off a logger (a device used for monitoring live feeds or recordings).

The information contained in this video suggests, to my sources anyway, that the studio feed has been sent to the National Playout Center (NPC) or to captioning.

The captioning you see at home is not produced by the TV network, but by an external company. As they do not require a hi-res feed, my sources say someone in captioning could have seen the conversation and clipped up the recording.

It is also possible it was done by someone in the NPC who had access to the logging software.

All indications are though, this was not the work of a Seven insider.

  1. Firstly, Robert does it matter where its come from?.. that’s mostly an internal issue.

Media is no longer just presenting facts and allowing the viewers to decide, its merely a mouth piece for corporate propaganda and sly governments departments. Regardless of what one thinks of Novak – stunts / leaks just divide and lose even more trust in an old dying industry, which only lifeline seems to be at the moment defaulting to cheap tabloid style clickbait for the masses.

to Quote Adam Curtis ( BAFTA 4x Award Winner)

“Nobody trusts anyone in authority today. It is one of the main features of our age. Wherever you look, there are lying politicians, crooked bankers, corrupt police officers, cheating journalists and double-dealing media barons, sinister children’s entertainers, rotten and greedy energy companies, and out-of-control security services.”
