Lisa Wilkinson’s new book, It Wasn’t Meant To Be Like This, has attracted doubts from claims surrounding her Today show exit by entertainment guru Peter Ford.

In his regular spot on 6PR Breakfast with Gareth Parker, Peter Ford casts doubt on some of the claims made by TV Presenter and former Today host, Lisa Wilkinson, regarding her exit for the breakfast program in 2017.

Peter said some of the recollections made by Lisa in her book, It Wasn’t Mean To Be Like This, don’t stack up to the recollections of other sources who have come forward to him.

He said:

“She’s entitled to her memories and how she remembers things, and how she felt – no one can dispute that. But if you’re going to start putting information out there and details out there, that don’t stand up to scrutiny, people are going to come after you and they are going to challenge you.

“And I’m getting a lot of calls from people at Channel Nine, and at Channel Seven and from people at The Project, giving me stuff about Lisa.”

In one of Lisa’s claims, she said there was “tension in the air” and that she “cut Karl” during the opener of her final show on Today, back on October 16. But on Twitter, Peter has posted the opener clip from the show, and on 6PR said:

“None of that happened. It’s not obvious. If you look at the vision, it’s not there, that didn’t happen like she described it. She described in her book extract where, at quarter past five in the morning, Karl threw to Airlie Walsh – and Airlie Walsh wasn’t reading the news that day.

“So, I know that’s a little thing, but if you’re going to get little things wrong people are going to start to doubt the entire thing.”

Peter also possessed the rundown of Lisa’s final Today show, and disputed her claims she was sidelined in the episode for “The Karl Show”.

When Gareth said the chatter about these claims may be helping Lisa sell more books when it releases November 3, Peter said:

“As they say, any publicity is good publicity except when it’s really bad publicity. And I think if a book’s being discredited and the facts are being disputed, and there’s evidence to say it’s not true, then I think people think, ‘Uh, do I really wanna spend 37 bucks on that?'”

Lisa Wilkinson’s book It Wasn’t Meant To Be Like This will be available in bookshops from November 3.
