One of Australian racing’s most glittering days takes centre stage on the Seven Network this Saturday, when our nation’s best thoroughbreds bid for glory on Everest Day at Royal Randwick and Caulfield Cup Day at Caulfield.

Two of the Spring Carnival’s most prestigious races headline Saturday’s live and free thoroughbred action, with star-studded fields set to contest the world’s richest race on turf, the $15 million Everest (1200m), at Randwick and the world’s richest 2400m handicap on turf, the $5 million Caulfield Cup, at Caulfield.

Seven’s coverage begins at 12.00pm AEDT Saturday on Channel 7, 7two and 7plus and will be led by Australia’s pre-eminent sport broadcaster Bruce McAvaney.

Racing’s #1 commentary team also includes Hamish McLachlan, Jason Richardson, Katelyn Mallyon, Emma Freedman and Gerard Middleton. Sky Racing’s Lizzie Jelfs will be trackside at Randwick, while Kate Waterhouse and Emma Vosti will bring fans all the fashion and colour of one of Spring Racing’s marquee days.

The world’s best sprinters will gather for The Everest at Randwick this Saturday, with last year’s winner Classique Legend bidding to go back-to-back while his jockey Kerrin McEvoy has his sights set on a remarkable fourth Everest victory. But Chris Waller stablemates Nature Strip and Home Affairs are also eyeing Australian racing’s richest prize, along with Eduardo, fresh off his impressive win in The Shorts, 2020 Everest placegetter Gytrash and Masked Crusader.

In the 144th running of the Caulfield Cup, Australia’s most exciting horse, Incentivise, is looking to continue his remarkable rise. The Peter Moody-trained gelding will be out to stretch his winning streak to seven with his third Group 1 title, but will have to overcome a strong field that includes Herbert Power winner Delphi, Nonconformist, who finished a narrow second in last week’s Caulfield Stakes, Young Werther and Duais.

Saturday’s other highlights at Caulfield include the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint (1100m) and Tristarc Stakes (1400m), and the Group 3 Neds Classic (2000m), Moonga Stakes (1400m) and Ethereal Stakes (2000m).

At Randwick, the $1.3 million Kosciuszko (1200m) is among the day’s other headline acts, along with the Group 3 Craven Plate (2000m) and Sydney Stakes (1200m), and the Listed Reginald Allen Quality (1400m).

Over the coming weeks, Seven will continue to bring fans Spring Racing’s finest thoroughbred action from around Australia, including the Cox Plate and Golden Eagle.
