UFC Middleweight action takes centre stage on Sunday August 22, as Jared Cannonier faces fellow title contender Kelvin Gastelum, live on ESPN, from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Fight fans will enjoy a jam-packed Sunday of UFC action, as UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs Gastelum takes over ESPN.
The event is headlined by the explosive Middleweight main event between number three-ranked contender Jared Cannonier and former UFC title challenger Kelvin Gastelum.
Sunday’s action begins at 8.30am AEST with UFC Live, before the UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs Gastelum Prelims get underway at 9am AEST.
The UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs Gastelum Main Card then follows at 12pm AEST, with five exciting fights all live on ESPN.
Both Cannonier and Gastelum are hoping to return to the winners circle, following recent defeats, as both look to climb up the rankings and find themselves back in the UFC Middleweight title picture.
Gastelum fell to Australian Robert Whittaker in April, and having previously lost to Israel Adesanya in 2019, the former Ultimate Fighter winner knows a win over Cannonier is needed to propel him back towards the upper echelon of the Middleweight division.
Cannonier also fell victim to Whittaker in his last fight, having previously been on a three-fight winning run inside the Octagon.
The 37-year-old remains on the cusp of a future UFC Middleweight championship opportunity, but he could slide down the rankings with defeat on Sunday.
It sets up an intriguing showdown between the pair at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
UFC lightweight Clay Guida returns to the Octagon as the main support bout at UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs Gastelum, taking on Mark Madsen.
The Heavyweights will also throw down on the main card as Parker Porter and Chase Sherman collide.
