After months of speculation, the 10 Network has now confirmed the commissioning of a new season of reality series First Dates Australia.
Channel 10 has last night broadcast an on-air casting call for the First Dates revival, with the network seeking contestants that are “genuinely looking for love” and who are willing to participate in a “blind date that could be the start of own happily ever after.”
Based on a British format, First Dates Australia aired for four seasons on Seven from 2016 to 2020. Seven opted to discontinue production of the series in 2021 as part of a broader strategy of revitalising its primetime line-up. Repeats of the series still regularly air on the networks multi-channels.
The commissioning of First Dates comes at a time when 10’s other dating series, The Bachelor is recording the worst ratings in the programs history.
First Dates is set to be produced for 10 by Warner Bros. Potential contestants wishing to take part can apply here.
First Dates Australia is expected to premiere on 10 in 2022
