The must-see HBO drama series Scenes from a Marriage, featuring star duo Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain, will launch on FOXTEL and BINGE in September at the same time as HBO’s U.S. premiere.
The HBO Original limited series is adapted from Ingmar Bergman’s acclaimed 1973 Swedish classic television series, and re-examines its iconic depiction of love, hatred, desire, monogamy, marriage and divorce through the lens of a contemporary American couple.
The latest trailer released today depicts Chastain and Isaac as a modern-day American couple navigating the complexities of marriage.
Mira (Chastain) is a confident, ambitious tech executive left unfulfilled in her marriage, and Jonathan (Isaac) is a cerebral and accommodating philosophy professor desperate to keep their relationship intact.
Throughout, Scenes from a Marriage mines the full complexity of Jonathan and Mira as individuals who ultimately know their marriage isn’t being torn apart by any one event or flaw, resulting in a radically honest series that allows the audience to eavesdrop on private conversations between two people torn between feelings of hate and love.
Oscar Isaac’s credits include Ex Machina, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and HBO series Show Me A Hero, for which he won a Golden Globe. Jessica Chastain’s credits include Interstellar, Zero Dark Thirty and The Help, which earned her an Academy Award nomination. Scenes from a Marriage marks Chastain’s first starring role in a television series.
The series is written and directed by The Affair co-creator, Hagai Levi. It is produced by Media Res and Endeavor for HBO. Executive Producers: Hagai Levi, Amy Herzog, Michael Ellenberg, Lars Blomgren, Jessica Chastain, Oscar Isaac, Daniel Bergman, Blair Breard.
Scenes from a Marriage is exclusive in Australia to the FOXTEL Group.
