The Geeks and the Survivors continue to hold their own against the tide of Seven’s Games dominance.
Seven heading into week two of the Games in a brilliant position – those that want to watch on their linear channels are locked in, and those that want to chase other sports as BVOD on 7plus have managed to work their way around how the website/app works. Sunday night numbers were, again, strong: Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games – Evening (7pm) (1,519,000);
Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games – Night (8:30pm) (2,070,000).
Seven first in both primary (45.4%) and network (54%) rankings.
Nine leaning into the last week of Beauty and the Geek (678,000) by giving all the remaining Geeks makeovers, and as expected that’s the highest we’ve seen from the franchise in a week. 60 Minutes (450,000) down on last week, and The Disappearance of Susan Cox Powell (143,000) completes their night.
Nine second in both primary (14.7%) and network (19.8%) rankings.
10 launch into the week with another struggling episode of The Sunday Project (279,000 6:30pm; 421,000 7pm) – down even on last week. Australian Survivor (568,000) slips a little against the Games, though it still continues to retain what would otherwise be considered a competitive and acceptable audience in primetime. New and double repeat eps of FBI (161,000; 116,000; 72,000) flesh out 10’s programming slate for the night.
10 third in both primary (8.8%) and network (12.7%) rankings.
The ABC launch into the night with Kevin’s Grandest Designs (441,000) and then into the second last repeat episode of Innocent (226,000). Repeats of Agatha Christie’s The ABC Murders (119,000) and Operation Buffalo (37,000) send the audience off to bed.
ABC fourth in both primary (6.6%) and network (9%) rankings.
SBS deliver more great repeat documentaries as their antidote to the Games, with The Beatles: Eight Days A Week (124,000) and Lennon’s Last Weekend (77,000). 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (39,000) finishes the night.
SBS fifth in both primary (2.8%) and network (4.5%) rankings.
