CNN documentary FIRST LADIES arrives at SBS On Demand

They say that behind every great man, there is a great woman.

First Ladies, narrated by Golden Globe winning actress Robin Wright, is a fascinating six-part docuseries, with each episode exploring the life of one of six iconic women whose names tell the story of recent US history – Eleanor Roosevelt, Lady Bird Johnson, Jackie Kennedy, Nancy Reagan, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Michelle Obama.

The series explores how each First Lady was transformed by their years at the very heart of American power, and how they each left their mark on American political life and society.

Blending in depth interviews, rare archival footage and compelling recreations, First Ladies uncovers the pivotal, often hidden moments that shaped each woman’s journey.

Each of these women helped to shape their husband’s legacies, while also pursuing their own agendas and carving out unique roles for themselves. First Ladies finally puts these powerful ladies first.

First Ladies Australian Premiere Monday, 2 August 2021 on SBS On Demand (all six episodes available)
