FOX LEAGUE will celebrate the best of the 1990s this week when Retro Round takes over a blockbuster week of footy, featuring the Storm v Panthers heavyweight match up Exclusively Live.
VHS players, baggy tracksuits, Nintendo 64’s, billabong boardshorts and Walkmans will be all the rage once again, when the stars and shows of FOX LEAGUE pay homage to the culture, the chaos and the greatest footy from the 90s.
FOX LEAGUE Host, Yvonne Sampson, said:
“Let’s be honest, the 1990s were Simply The Best. Mal Meninga was an Immortal in the making, Alfie Langer was a cheeky crowd surfing champion and Joey Johns was a modern rugby league rebel and maybe the greatest we’ll ever see.”
“We had MTV, Nintendo 64s, Tamagotchis and a Sunday 3pm Grand Final kick-offs.
“So get out the 3/4 sleeves, Doc Martens and turn up the volume for Smells Like Teen Spirit. We’re going back to a time before TikTok, influencers and the Bunker.”
In a Retro Round special, on Monday at 7.30pm, the premiere of Fox Sports Original Ricky will deliver an insight into the journey of 90s rugby league superstar and current Raiders coach Ricky Stuart.
Stuart shares his amazing journey from first grade to coaching and the lessons he has learnt along the way. It’s a side to Stuart never seen before.
Super Saturday will feature the mouth-watering Panthers v Storm clash exclusively Live from 7.30pm, with two NRL games from 2.30pm to set the tone.
