Join Trisha Morton-Thomas, Steven Oliver and Elaine Crombie this NAIDOC Week to find out what happens when History Bites Back.
Directed, written and presented by Trisha Morton-Thomas (Occupation Native, The Song Keepers, Total Control) alongside Craig Anderson (Black Comedy, Occupation Native, Red Christmas), and starring Steven Oliver (Black Comedy, Faboriginal, Looky Looky, Here Comes Cooky) and Elaine Crombie (Nowhere Boys, Top End Wedding, Top of the Lake), History Bites Back presents a modern take on history that dares to poke fun at the establishment and challenge the status quo of the prevailing historical narrative of this nation.
The cast come together in the one hour special to bite back at negative, real life social media comments and steer the conversation towards the historical context of the fortunes and misfortunes of Indigenous Australians – from social security, citizenship and equal wages to nuclear bombs and civil actions.
History Bites Back is the antidote to the ‘typical’ documentary. It’s comical, self-aware, and not afraid to launch a rocket into taboo issues.
