On-field action kicks off Friday night: Demons v Lions Â
Fans are in for an electrifying round of live and free footy on the Seven Network this weekend, when Saturday night’s marquee Dreamtime match between Essendon and Richmond will take centre stage as Sir Doug Nicholls Round continues.
Round 12 is set to open with a bang on Friday night when two of 2021’s genuine premiership contenders, Melbourne and the Brisbane Lions, clash at Giants Stadium, with Seven’s coverage starting at 7.00pm AEST on Channel 7 and 7mate.
The live and free action on Seven only heats up from there as the Bombers and Tigers square off on Saturday night in the annual Dreamtime match at Perth’s Optus Stadium, from 7.00pm AEST on Channel 7 and 7mate. The much-anticipated clash is already a sell-out.
Then Carlton and the West Coast Eagles will be out to rebound from disappointing Round 11 losses when they do battle at the SCG on Sunday from 3.00pm AEST on Channel 7 and 7mate.
The AFL’s #1 commentary team will again lead Seven’s Round 12 coverage, this weekend featuring Brian Taylor, James Brayshaw, Hamish McLachlan, Luke Hodge, Wayne Carey, Luke Darcy, Matthew Richardson, Jimmy Bartel, Jude Bolton, Basil Zempilas and Xavier Ellis.
One of the game’s Indigenous greats, triple Brisbane Lions premiership defender Chris Johnson, will also be part of the Seven’s team for the Friday night and Saturday night blockbusters.
Fans can get their Sunday of footy started with Abbey Gelmi, Abbey Holmes and Tim Watson on Sunday Footy Fest at 2.30pm AEST in Melbourne and on 7plus nationally, when they will enjoy a comprehensive wrap of all the day’s action and Round 12’s other highlights and news.
Following the Dreamtime game, Seven will screen for the first time a special presentation of The Ripple Effect, a landmark documentary by award-wining filmmaker Peter Dickson, inspired by AFL great Nicky Winmar’s famous stand against racism at Victoria Park in 1993.
The Ripple Effect explores racism in Australia through the eyes of some of the nation’s most prominent and inspiring athletes of colour, including Winmar, Nathan Lovett-Murray, Bachar Houli, Nova Peris, Josh Addo-Carr, Akec Makur Chuot and Otis Hope Carey.
It will air at 11.00pm AEST Saturday on Channel 7 in Melbourne and Adelaide, and 7mate in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. It will also be live streamed nationally on 7plus and then be available on demand.
Seven’s week of footy gets off to a light-hearted start with The Front Bar tomorrow night, when former Essendon star Derek Kickett joins Mick Molloy, Sam Pang and Andy Maher at the bar on Channel 7 and 7plus at 8.30pm in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, and 11.10pm in Sydney and Brisbane.
After Friday night’s Demons-Lions clash, Adam Cooney and Cam Luke will settle in on the Armchair Experts sofa to give their unique take on all the fallout from the big match on Channel 7, 7mate and 7plus.
On Monday night, premiership teammates and footy mavericks Heath Shaw and Dale Thomas will give fans an unfiltered view of the game’s biggest stories on the Heater and Daisy Show on 7plus.
