Seven appears to have commissioned a second season of prime-time game show Beat The Chaser, with a casting call posted for new contestants on the network’s social pages.
Season one of Beat The Chaser, which is a spin-off from the highly popular evening quiz The Chase Australia, delivered consistent audiences for the network when it premiered last year.
The first season featured popular Chaser favourites; The Shark, The Supernerd, The Tiger Mum and Goliath, competing against former champions from popular Australian game shows.
The commissioning of a new season of Beat The Chaser comes at the same time as filming is commencing this week on fresh episodes of The Chase Australia featuring new host Larry Emdur. Production on the series is occurring in its new home in Sydney and is expected to feature an updated set and graphics package.
Seven will also be trying hard to secure the services of fan-favourite Anne Hegerty (The Governess), who has not travelled to Australia since September 2019.
Mark Labbett (The Beast) is currently not expected to participate in new episodes of The Chase Australia due to COVID travel restrictions and family commitments
Seven is yet to clarify its on-air strategy for The Chase, but TV Blackbox understands episodes featuring previous host Andrew O’Keefe are likely to remain on-air until the Olympics, with the sporting spectacle expected to provide a big promotional launch pad for the revamped series featuring the arrival of Larry Emdur in August.
Contestants wishing to take part in Beat The Chaser can apply here.
why do the contestants get long questions and the chaser gets short one’s. also do away with choose A or B segments. nobody sees them so why ask. unless the chaser is studying the questions behind closed doors. with respect.
Yes.All my thoughts were with me months ago. Pity the beast are not longer with us. Personally methinks we can do without tiger mum as in my opininion she come over as one who’s more important(and her “very educated kids”) than the contestants.
Never watch it when she is on.
You need to do away with the buzzer and calling the contestants name in the final chase, This erodes the advantage that you have as a team ,it takes up time, let them just answer the question ,if it’s wrong it’s wrong, PS The Australian chasers overdo the personalities a bit, with the much anticipated departure of Mr O’Keefe and his uncontrolled body movements , the chasers can calm down as well…
Why dis the music louder as the questions get to the end at the final Chase? Even the Brits complain about the same thing.
Also, please don’t let Larry ask questions when there is only 2 seconds left, like O’Keefe did, expecting the contestants to answer them in the same time frame.
With any luck, Larry will either know how to dress properly or have a wardrobe assistant . Andrews wardrobe choices only ever bought attention to himself instead of the contestants and chasers.
Good luck to you Larry.
Hey Cousin Larry, Uncle Lou and Aunti Leah would have been proud of you
It’s so overdue , the pain endured watching Andrews over the top voices, and actions made it hard to enjoy the show ! Larry is just a normal likeable bloke who will make this show great /watchable again !
Good move channel 7 😉
Wish they would stop the music being so loud when the questions are being asked as it is so annoying and you can’t hear the questions so if the new show is the same we won’t be watching it as it to loud let’s be realistic with the background music it sounds like you don’t want us to here the Questions
Thoroughly agree with you, as if the music isn’t distracting enough, watch tonight’s show. Andrew’s wardrobe choices are just as loud !
Good luck Larry. Please don’t attempt foreign accents. We understand the Way ‘normal’ people pronounce words.
